Lightning Boyz: Cyprus, the Goldmann Tower and the extreme rap life

New talk on Fler and Noir's shared channel LIGHTNINGBOYZ, and part 1 covers a lot of ground: the real cost of living on Cyprus, why Fler keeps his private life private and a first-hand report from inside Xatar's Goldmann Tower.

What does Cyprus actually cost?

The episode opens with a community question about living costs and Fler counters dry: "Are you my tax advisor?" Then he answers anyway, and it is more honest than expected. He spends less on clothes on the island than in Germany, because in t-shirt weather there is simply less to flex with. Food costs the same, they always ate well in Germany too. And the holiday feeling from the early days is gone after more than a year of living there. You still have to budget.

Why there are no vlogs

A fan wants to know why Fler never shows his daily life the way Kollegah and Farid Bang used to. The answer runs through half the episode and boils down to a stance: he stages nothing, his private life belongs to him, and the internet does not believe real stories anyway.

If my faith, my family or my life behind the scenes were not sacred to me, I would put them on display.

Along the way a line drops that we obviously noticed: people got worked up about the casino deal thing again, he says, and meanwhile he has been earning money with it for three years.

Noir was inside the Goldmann Tower

The strongest part of the episode comes when the talk turns to Xatar's Goldmann Tower in Cologne. Fler openly admits he never really followed what was going on there. Noir's answer: "I spent two, three months in the Goldmann Tower." Then comes the insider report: a reception desk with secretaries, an office floor, chill rooms, snacks and above all studios, lots of studios. GVA had his own room, the Alles oder Nichts crew around SSIO worked there, Shamsedeen, Enno. Seventy, eighty artists coming and going, and every newcomer with a studio brought seven people who brought five more. Somewhere in the middle of it: Mois.

The Mois anecdote

Since the name comes up, Fler adds a story from the early Kollegah days. Back then Mois tried to explain to him how to rap, with melody and beat and everything. Fler's reaction, then and now: what are you talking about? He laughs about it, no hard feelings, but he was not going to take rap lessons from a YouTuber.

The serious part

Toward the end the round gets quiet. The topic is Xatar's death and the fact that it was never really talked about publicly. There is not much more than what his widow said in a talk show: a heart attack. The round leaves it at that, out of respect. And on Haftbefehl, whose documentary set off the whole episode, Fler turns unusually thoughtful. A generation that lived very fast and very wild, he says. His conclusion is simple: you have to take care of yourself, with drugs you sabotage yourself.

Part 2 is announced. The full first episode is on the LIGHTNINGBOYZ channel and you find both bonus sites at Flerbonus and NoirBonus.
